Biography of Mime Artist, Cherise Garrido
International Mime enthusiast, Cherise Garrido is the visionary Founder & CEO of M.I.M.E., Mime In Motion Entertainment (2009). Mime is a specialized theatrical art. As an Ambassador of Entertainment, Cherise has transformed this timeless art into an incredible medium, combining business, entertainment and ministry. She is a trailblazing leader and innovator in the field of mime artistry boasting 10 solid years of experience as a solo mime artist, instructor and dramatic coach.
Cherise refers to herself as a Mimepreneur, because she is driven by an inherent passion and spirit to catapult mime as a mainstream entertainment option comparable to other artforms such as singing, dancing and comedy.
Cherise is a professional mime expert admired by her peers and she is considered a leader in the industry. She is a regular attendee and supporter of The K & K Gospel Mime Worldwide Workshop. As a master mime, she has toured nationwide and in Panama (2010) delivering stellar solo mimes to music to all ages. She has perfomed at banquets, church events, competitions (winning 1st place in Dance and Physical Movement at the Martinsburg, WV Apollo Theater in 2007), fundraisers, schools and workshops. Cherise performed live before the Great Gospel singer Ms. Vickie Winans performing Safe In His Arms. Ms. Vickie Winans stated she truly enjoyed the performance.
Her mime selections are diversified and carefully selected to meet the special entertainment needs of her clientle. She performs to various musicl genres such as: patriotic where onlookers feel a sense of pride and espirit de corps while she mesmerizes the crowd with her patriotic vigor; gospel encourages viewers and feels them with a sense of hope in a time where our world is full of confusion and detriment; country,that good old down home feeling that makes you relax and know everything will be alright. And many more, such as: bible stories, hispanic music, kids songs, easy listening, soul, skits and most recently, tap. She even performed as a 12 year old girl with pig-tails and bobby socks as a special wedding request for a bride’s wedding!
Cherise attributes her diversity to growing up in the Metropolis of Chicago where art and diversity is widespread. She identifies mime as the next dimension of entertainment moving from music to videos to mime to music! It’s an artform that stirs the soul!
She gives inspirational credit to legendary greats: Mime artist Marcel Marceua, dancers (actors) Fred Astaire, Charlie Chaplin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Gene Kelly, Judy Garland, The Nicolas Brothers and Michael Jackson. Comedians Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett and Harpo Marx. Musical genius’ Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington and Stevie Wonder, the movies The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and the fictional cartoon character Wonderwoman. She is also greatly inspired by gospel greats, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurken and Israel Houghton. But, most of all God gets the glory and credit for blessing her with this unique artistic gift.
Cherise is also a professional mass communicator with a combination of over 17 years in the Federal Governement and US Military she is highly trained, skilled and disciplined in Organizational Management and Business. She specialized in Broadcast and Telecommunications. She has travelled and lived in Europe, Asia with visits to Canada, Mexico and Jaimaca. She manages M.I.M.E. with business savvy and wisdom catering each performance to meet and exceed her clientle’s expectations.
Cherise started out 15 years ago as a Youth Leader teaching bible study and interpreting American Sign Language(ASL) for Deaf students. Now she incorporates ASL in her performances.
Cherise can also deliver the same message of mime as a powerful speech or sermon. Being a licensed Elder and minister allows her to further encourage people to believe that all things are possible!
Cherise is prepared, poised and positioned to perform this phenominal artform globally!
